Wayne Barrar was born in Christchurch, New Zealand in 1957.
He completed a Bachelor of Science from the University of Canterbury in 1979 and a Post Graduate Diploma of Fine Arts at Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland in 1996. He was awarded a number of international artist residencies and received New Zealand Arts Council grants in 1991 and 2002.
His works have been exhibited by a number of public galleries including the City Gallery, Wellington, Sarjeant Art Gallery, Wanganui and Nevada Museum of Art, Reno, USA. Barrar’s works are held in public galleries, private and corporate collections in New Zealand, Australia and elsewhere.
