Born in South Australia in 1902, Ragless had no formal art training. During the 1920s he owned and operated a vineyard in South Australia, painting in his spare time. He was appointed an official war artist during World War II. Best known for his oils of landscapes and coastal scenes, he is represented in several state and provincial galleries. He died in 1981.
