Biographical Information

Born in Victoria in 1935, Richard Crichton is a practising artist who resides in Melbourne, Australia. He studied at Caulfield Technical School and Royal Melbourne Technical College, where he later taught. He has held over 20 sucessful one man exhibitions and is represented in many state and private collections. Crichton formed early friendships with well known established artists including John Perceval, Sidney Nolan and Albert Tucker. Awarded a Harkness fellowship in 1967 he moved his young family to New York and lived for the first year at the Chelsea Hotel, with artist Brett Whiteley and his family as their immediate neighbours.
