Robert H. Johnson (1890-1964) Australia

Biographical Information

Born in New Zealand in 1890, Johnson served with the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces in World War I, before arriving in Australia with his wife in 1921. He became well known for his Australian impressionist-style landscapes and Sydney Harbour scenes. In 1936 he was commissioned to paint a picture of Canberra for presentation to the National Gallery in Wellington, New Zealand. His work is represented in most Australian and New Zealand public galleries. He died in 1964. Edit or add to this biography
