Biographical Information

Rosemary Mangiamele is an abstract intuitive painter, who has lived and worked in the Fitzroy area for over forty years.

In 1986 she took up watercolour painting whilst in Sweden and on returning to Fitzroy she studied Chinese watercolour painting; and exhibited with the local and international group of Lingnan artists.

In August 1996 Rosemary ceased work as an occupational therapist so that she could take up painting full time, and explore fine art in depth. For 4 years Rosemary held the position of artist-in-residence at the YWCA Melbourne, and she was a volunteer at the Outreach Grief Services in Fitzroy, where she assisted in running groups, using art, for bereaved children.

Rosemary has participated in over 50 group exhibitions, and had 9 solo exhibitions. Her paintings are held in private collections in Australia, Sweden, Italy, Ireland, U.K. and New York; and in the art collection of St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne and the YWCA.

Rosemary is currently Vice President of the Contemporary Art Society of Victoria, a committee member of the Australian Women’s Art Register and a past member of Roar Studios, Fitzroy. Edit or add to this biography
