Biographical Information

Born in Switzerland in 1898, Herman arrived in Australia in 1937 after studying widely in Europe and working there as an art dealer. He also travelled throughout Europe, the Americas and Africa. He was appointed as an official war artist in 1945. Herman is known as a painter of still lifes, portraits and cityscapes. His work is widely represented in state and provincial galleries.
