Biographical Information

The wife of noted portrait painter, William Beckwith McInnes, Violet McInnes was born in 1892. She studied at the National Gallery School in Melbourne. She worked first as a photo-graphic artist, and after a break to have her six children, resumed painting in the early 1930s. Her first solo exhibition - of flower paintings, landscapes and large scale figures - was in 1937. She continued to exhibit her work until about 1968. She died in 1971. Edit or add to this biography
