William McCleverty (1806-97) New Zealand

Biographical Information

Born in England about 1806, William McCleverty arrived in New Zealand in 1846. In 1894 he was appointed commander of NZ forces. During his time in New Zealand he painted numerous topographical works, usually in water-colours. He left NZ in 1857 and died in 1897. Edit or add to this biography
