William Jock Frater (1890-1974) Australia

Biographical Information

Born in Scotland in 1890, Frater arrived in Australia in 1910. He worked for a time designing commercial stained glass doors, but eventually turned to painting full time. He was greatly influenced by Cezanne, becoming known as a pioneer of post-impressionism in Melbourne. His work is represented in several state and provincial galleries. William Frater died in Melbourne in 1974. Edit or add to this biography
