Biographical Information

Brian Calcutt, was born in East Malvern, Victoria on 17th October. 1905,

He attended Melbourne Grammer School, later studied at teachers college, He became an arts Teacher at Swinburne college Melbourne for several years, rising to the position of Art Director of the College for some time, before retiring, and moving to New Zealand to work as a commercial artist in the advertising industry,

For many years he also undertook freelance work, painting landscapes and seascapes.

He excelled in calligraphy, creating the Honour Books of the War Dead for Flinders Naval Depot, which took two years to complete on parchment.
