Biographical Information

Born in London in 1862, Beatrix Colquhoun (nee Hoile) studied art in Paris and - after her family's move to Melbourne - at the National Gallery School from 1884 to 1891. She and her husband, art critic and painter Alexander Colquhoun became 'plein air' painters, living in the outskirts of Melbourne. Beatrix was a member of the Melbourne Society of Women Painters and Sculptors. She died in 1959. Edit or add to this biography
