Beatrix C. Dobie (1887-1945) New Zealand

Biographical Information

Born 'Beatrix Dobbie' in New Zealand in 1887, this artist later changed her name to Beatrix Dobie. She left New Zealand to study overseas in 1911 returning about 1919. She exhibited her paintings many of them of horses with the Canterbury Society of Arts from 1919-1926, and illustrated H Guthrie-Smith's 'Tuitira'. In 1926 Dobie married Rene Vernon in Tunisia. She died in the mid 1940s. Her work is represented in the Auckland City Art Gallery Edit or add to this biography
