Jack Dale Mengenen (c1935-2013) Australia (Aboriginal)

Biographical Information

Jack Dale was born in the bush on Mount House Station. He worked as a stockman and was greatly revered as a skilled, tough uncompromising man who was never thrown from a horse or beaten by a beast. He has seen many changes in the pastoral industry which he greatly resents and laments. In recent times Jack has sought to rediscover and relive his experience of bush life through his art. It is a unique experience of a quick witted and honest man, often mischievous through subtly crafted humour reflecting his mastery of Ngarinyin - the language of his mother - as well as several other Kimberley languages.
