Beverley Martorana (1938-.) Australia

Biographical Information

Born in Melbourne in 1938, Bev Martorana studied at the Caulfield Institute of Technology, becoming a painter and teacher.

She travelled extensively to the UK, Europe, USA and Asia, and after winning the Loch Art Award in 1979 went to Rome to live and work.

She held her first solo show in Melbourne in 1978. Martorana's work is represented at the National Trust of Victoria.Major collections include The National Trust of Victoria, the universities of La Trobe, Monash & Adelaide.Her work can also be seen at The Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery, at Melbourne Girls' Grammar where she also attended as a student. Work is also represented in the National association of the Visual Arts Council of Victoria & at Strathcona Girls' Grammae School.

She is collected widely privately in Japan, Italy, New Zealand as well as in Australia. She has held 11 solo exhibitions & has shown in 31 group exhibitions.She is represented in several publications, CD ROM, dictionaries & reviews. She still travels widely, & at 75 yrs of age (at 2013), continues quietly to work in her studio in Somers Victoria, Australia. Edit or add to this biography
