William Schmidt (1870-1969) New Zealand

Biographical Information

Born in Auckland in 1870, William Schmidt was the son of artist John Diedrich Schmidt and brother of artist Armin Alfred Schmidt. In 1899 William Schmidt contributed drawings of the Samoan War to the publication, 'New Zealand Graphic'. Lithographs of birds which appeared in the same publication in 1900 are held in the Hocken Library. Schmidt died in 1969 Edit or add to this biography
