Charles Rodius (1802-60) Australia

Biographical Information

Born in France in 1802, Charles Rodius was a convict artist who arrived in Sydney in 1829. In 1832 he received a certificate of exemption, and opened a studio teaching painting, and painting portraits of prominent Sydney lawyers and judges. He also painted a portrait of the murderer, Knatchbull. Rodius died in 1860. Edit or add to this biography
