Biographical Information

Colin Parker was born in Lindfield, New South Wales in 1941. He is the son of C. D. Parker, watercolourist and owner of the Parker Galleries and his mother is a craftworker.

Parker is a largely self-taught artist, known for his scenes from the Australian inland. In 1963 he held the first of several one-man exhibitions.

His commissions include the famous Australian outback mural ordered by Tullamarine International Airport, Melbourne; a painting of the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club marina commissioned by themselves and presented to the Duke of Edinburgh during his visit in the late 1960's; and the Joint Coal Board commissioned two very large paintings, one of the Wallerawang Power Station and the other an Open Cut Coal Mine Loading Facilities for trains and trucks.
