Edward Castle (1818-77) Australia

Biographical Information

Son of a British pastoralist, Edward Castle was born in the UK in 1822. He arrived in South Australia in 1839, where he took up land and later became a magistrate. Castle drew scenes of bush life, some of which were published as lithographs by the Pococks of Bristol in the 1840s. He died in 1877 in South Australia and his work is represented in the National Library of Australia, Mitchell Library and Art Gallery of South Australia. Edit or add to this biography
