Biographical Information

Born in 1879, Eirene Mort studied under Dattilo Rubbo in Sydney and in London. On her return to Sydney in 1905, she became a teacher and shared studios with other artists who went into business as interior decorators. Also an etcher and printmaker, she was a foundation member of the Australian Painters & Etchers Society and the Society of Arts and Crafts, NSW. Mort was also principal of the Sydney Women Painters' Art School, and taught etching to Sydney Ure Smith. She died in 1977. Edit or add to this biography
