George William Carrington (1855-1940) New Zealand

Biographical Information

Born in England in 1855, George Carrington studied under his father, G W Carrington. He arrived in New Zealand and became a teacher at Otago. Carrington painted mainly in oils and exhibited in Dunedin from 1882 and Christchurch 1906-07. His work is represented in the National Art Gallery and Hocken Library. He died in 1940.
