Biographical Information

Born in Victoria in 1890, Herbert Rose studied at the National Gallery School, Melbourne, and later in Paris. He travelled widely, spending some time in Europe, America, Africa and the Middle East, where he died after contracting smallpox. Best known as a landscape artist and etcher, Herbert Rose is represented in the Queensland and Victorian Art Galleries and in most major print collections. He died in 1937.
