Isabel McWhannell (1885-1918) Australia

Biographical Information

Isabel McWhannel studied under Julian Ashton and was influenced by Sid Long's decorative romanticism. John Young in an article in The Artist (Vol. l No. l, 1941) stated that 'in some of her later work we see a robust drive to realise the greater natural facts of landscape in a manner suggestive of some of the English Moderns ( John, Duncan Grant, Henry Lamb). ' Isabel McWhannel died at the age of 33. Unfortunately, she was not prolific and few of her works survive. Edit or add to this biography
