Biographical Information

Born in England in 1906, Ivor Francis arrived in Australia in 1924 and studied at the South Australian School of Arts. A surrealistic and semi-abstract painter in oil, pen and ink, he also worked as an art critic for various newspapers in Adelaide and Sydney. Francis taught at various institutions in Adelaide, becoming a lecturer in art history and art appreciation at the University of Adelaide from 1970. His work is represented in the Adelaide state collection and some regional galleries. He died in 1993. Edit or add to this biography
