James Howe (aka J[ames] Carr) Carse (1819?-1900) Australia

Biographical Information

Born in 1818, James Carse was active in Australia between 1860 and 1880, although little is known of him before this period. In 1870 he became a foundation member of the Victorian Academy of Arts, and won the New South Wales Academy of Arts Prize for the best oil painting in 1873. He died in 1900.
