Biographical Information

Jean Sindelar, was born in Liege, Belgium in 1941*.

He studied graphic arts in Germany at the Academy of Fine Arts, and after arriving in Australia he studied with Buckmaster, Rowen and Loxton.

His paintings in both sensitive watercolors and richly glazed oils, are represented in major collections, galleries and corporations both in this country and overseas.

Jean Sindelar is particularly notable for his colourful and superbly detailed studies of majestic birds, spirited cats of the wild, rain forests and especially his interpretations of the sometimes bleak but always beautiful granite landscapes of outback NSW and Qld.

Sindelar is a member of the Australian Guild of Realists.

He has had sell out exhibitions in Osaka and Boston in recent years and his paintings are in collections in the USA, Saudi Arabia, Europe and throughout Australia.

He died in Mudgeeraba, Queensland c2012.
