Biographical Information

Born in Dunedin, John McIndoe studied art with Alfred O’Keefe before joining the family printing business.

He was captured by German forces in Crete in May 1941, while serving as a Captain attached to the New Zealand Division Supply column, and was held a POW for the next four years,

After the war an exhbition of his artworks, completed while a POW, was held in London.

McIndoe returned to New Zealand, working in the printing business until his retirement in 1961. He continued to paint, especially in pastels and watercolour. Edit or add to this biography
