John Simeon Ashworth (1915-79) Australia

Biographical Information

Born in Victoria in 1915, John Ashworth worked as an industrial designer until World War II when he served with the RAAF. In 1949 he was appointed an art teacher in Victoria and in 1961 became director of the Hamilton Art Gallery, through which he continued his vocation as an art educationalist, turning the gallery into a communal art centre.
