Biographical Information

Born in England in 1877, Joseph Palethorpe had arrived in New Zealand by 1900. He worked for many years as Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages in Wellington. A member of the Wellington Art Club, he exhibited with the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts. Palethorpe died in 1953. His work is represented in the Turnbull and Sarjeant collections.
