Karlis Mednis (1910-99) Australia

Biographical Information

Born in Russia in 1910, Mednis studied at the Riga School of Art, Latvia, before his arrival in Australia in 1949.

A painter of draughtsman-like qualities, he worked in several media, frequently painting cityscapes and marine subjects and won several awards.

His works are represented in the National Collection, Canberra, and in several provincial galleries. Karl Mednis died in 1999. Edit or add to this biography
