Kenneth Robertson MacQueen (1897-1960) Australia

Biographical Information

Born in Victoria in 1897, Kenneth MacQueen studied art in London. After serving in France in World War I, he returned to Australia and became a farmer in the Darling Downs area of Queensland. He was among the first Australian watercolourists to paint in a modern style, and he is noted for his simply constructed, formalised, semi-abstract landscapes. His work is represented in most state galleries and in the Metropolitan Museum in New York. MacQueen died in 1960. Edit or add to this biography
