May Vale (1862-1945) Australia

Biographical Information

Born in Victoria in 1862, May Vale studied at the National Gallery of Victoria. She became a teacher, painter and enameller, her enamels including Australian landscapes and large scale pieces such as Egyptian and Greek style vases. She later studied in London and at the Academie Julian in Paris. On a trip to Europe from 1906 to 1908 she taught enamelling in London. Vale died in 1945.
