Mildred E. Lovett (1880-1955) Australia

Biographical Information

Born in Hobart in 1880, Mildred Lovett was a painter, pastellist, lithographer, sculptor and china-painter. She studied art at the Hobart Technical School and at the Julian Ashton School in Sydney. Her portrait of Julian Ashton is held by the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery. After her marriage she lived in Brisbane for a period, and after World War I, travelled to Europe. She returned to Hobart in 1920 and taught there for the next decade. Her work is represented in the Tasmanian and New South Wales state galleries. Lovett died in Hobart in 1955.
