Biographical Information

Ninon Phillips was born in Hawthorn, Victoria. Her childhood was spent at in part in country Victoria in Maryborough, with relatives following the death of her father.

She was awarded a scholarship from Maryborough Technical College and after, continued art studies at Melbourne Technical School, and then began a career in textile design with Vida J. Turner, in Melbourne in 1936.

At the end of World War II, Ninon returned to the arts, specialising in silk-screen design, textile design, photo tinting, painting and illustration. From the 1960s, she lived in Hawthorn East, Victoria and developed a passion and interest in Australian wildlife and this featured strongly in her art and illustration from this period onwards. Later, she became known for floral and botanical art, exhibiting throughout Australia and at Tryon Gallery, in London.

She died on 8 June 2015. Edit or add to this biography
