Biographical Information

The wife of Archibald Douglas Colquhoun, Amalie Sara was born in Victoria in 1894. A painter and teacher, she studied at the Ballarat and Sydney Technical Colleges, then in Melbourne under Max Meldrum and her husband, before going to Europe for further studies. She and her husband conducted an art school in Melbourne in the late 1920s. Her work is represented in Australian state galleries and the Ballarat Gallery. She died in 1974.
