Ralph Balson (1890-1964) Australia

Biographical Information

Born in England in 1890, Balson arrived in Australia in 1913. He studied at Sydney Art School and became one of Australia's first abstract artists. He took part in several group exhibitions in the 1930s, and held his first one-man show in 1940. Balson's works are widely represented in state and provincial collections. He died in 1964.
