Reginald (Reg) Preston (1917-2000) Australia

Biographical Information

Born in Sydney in 1917, Reg Preston is a ceramic artist who studied in Melbourne and in 1937 travelled to London, where he undertook further studies that included time at the Royal Academy. He returned to Australia in 1939 at the outbreak of World War II.

He established his own pottery at Warrandyte in Victoria in 1945, and with other potters in the area and his wife, established Potter's Cottage where the work of the group was sold and exhibitions held. In 1967 Reg Preston began working in stoneware.

He has exhibited his work since 1958 and is represented in the Australian National Gallery and in several state collections. Edit or add to this biography
