Biographical Information

Born in Scotland in 1870, Walter Meston moved with his family to New Zealand in 1884. He arrived in Western Australia in 1897 and established a sign writing business first in Kalgoorlie and later in Perth. A watercolourist and teacher, he was largely a self taught artist. Meston was a member of the West Australian Society of Arts and Crafts, and exhibited his paintings there from about 1898 to 1933. His work is represented in the Art Gallery of Western Australia.
