Zoltan Fenyes (1924-97) Australia

Biographical Information

Born in Hungary, Zoltan Fenyes studied at the Academy of Art in Budapest. He was an art teacher in Buenos Aires and lived in several South American countries prior to his arrival in Australia in the 1960s. He was the winner of several major prizes and awards in South America and Australia and has held several successful one-man exhibitions.

Zoltan had an interesting history. During the Russian occupation of Hungary, Zoltan who was a young art teacher, was taken to a gulag in Siberia where he was incarcerated for almost four years for participating in an anti-communist exhibition.

He died in 1997 leaving behind a son named Zoltan from his first marriage and daughter named Justine from his second marriage to Aloisia Vivien Fenyes. Edit or add to this biography
