Florent Vincent Emile Lucien Dechaineux (1869-1957) Australia

Biographical Information

Born in Belgium in 1869, Dechaineux arrived in Sydney in 1884. He was a lecturer in design at East Sydney Technical College before moving to Tasmania where he was founding principal at the Hobart Technical College from 1907 to 1939. Dechaineux was known as the father of technical education in Tasmania. He died in 1957. His work is represented in the Tasmanian State Gallery in Hobart. Edit or add to this biography
