Biographical Information

Brian was born in Nelson New Zealand in 1947.

He emigrated to Australia in 1977 and lives in McLaren Vale on the Fleurieu Peninsula 40 kms south of Adelaide South Australia.

Brian’s passion for painting began as a teenager and during his early years of painting he had guidance from some of New Zealand’s and Australia’s leading exponents in watercolour techniques.

Knowledge and observation are essential elements of his working practice and to achieve this he spends a large portion of his time painting on location. Even after 30 years of painting in the most difficult of mediums, Brian still remains passionate about painting in his chosen medium of watercolour and strives continually for perfection in his work.

His first solo exhibition was in 1983 and he has enjoyed numerous successful one man exhibitions in South Australia, Queensland and New Zealand

His work hangs in may private and corporate collections throughout Australia and overseas. Brian has won numerous art prizes including the coveted Heysen Prize and is in high demand as a tutor. Edit or add to this biography
