Biographical Information

Born in England in the 1830s, Edward Roper arrived in Australia in 1854. A writer and painter he was known to have travelled extensively, particularly around the goldfields area of Victoria. He exhibited in England with the Burlington Gallery in London. His works are represented in the Mitchell Library and in the National Library in Canberra. He died in 1909.
