Biographical Information

Born in Victoria in 1907, Alan McCulloch studied in Melbourne and on travel studies to the USA, Europe and the UK. A cartoonist, painter, writer, gallery director and critic, he began compiling the 'Encyclopedia of Australian Art' from 1944. Alan McCulloch died in 1992. His work is represented in the Australian National Gallery, the state galleries in Melbourne and Perth and several public collections. Edit or add to this biography
