Biographical Information

Born in 1878 in New Zealand, Harold Cazneaux arrived in Australia in 1889. He worked for an Adelaide firm of photographers, and moved to Sydney in 1904 where he began to exhibit photographs of the poverty stricken in Sydney. These have become hallmark photographs of their time. Cazneaux died in 1953. His work is represented in the National Gallery of Australia and several state galleries. Edit or add to this biography
