Biographical Information

Born in New Zealand in 1957, Alison Clouston studied at the Ilam School of Art before arriving in Australia in 1981. Working mainly in sculpture and installation, with forays into performance, drawing and new media, she held her first solo show in Australia in 1982 in Sydney at Stephen Mori Gallery, and exhibited in the First and Second Australian Sculpture Triennials in Melbourne, and in the Mildura Sculpture Triennial. She also held solo shows with Ray Hughes Gallery. Her Pterodactyl Car careened over the steps of the Art Gallery of NSW for Australian Perspecta. In 2004 she completed a Masters Degree at UNSW. Recent group touring exhibitions include "Kuru Alala: Eyes Open" with Tjanpi Desert Weavers and Maria Fernanda Cardoso, and "Bimblebox: art | science | nature". The group show "Daughters Mothers" was in the SCA Galleries in Sydney in 2015. In NZ she is represented by Bowen Galleries. Her work is held in National, State and private collections in Australia and NZ. Edit or add to this biography
