Biographical Information

A New Zealand painter, Margaret Hartley was the daughter of one of Otago's earliest settlers. She studied at the Dunedin School of Art under David Con Hutton, and later in London. On her return to Dunedin, Hartley taught painting at the Otago Art Society from 1888 to 1921. Her work is represented at the Hocken Library. Edit or add to this biography
