Biographical Information

Paul Coney, well known New Zealand watercolorist, was originally born in Harare, Zimbabwe in 1957, Paul moved with his family to Cambridge in 1962.

After attending Cambridge Primary School and St Peter’s School, he moved to Auckland after gaining School Certificate and University Entrance.

At the age of 20 he took up night classes in pencil portraiture, but soon became fascinated with painting, especially watercolor.

His subject matter covers the spectrum from floral, figurative, landscape and seascape to still life, birds and animals, and he has exhibited in galleries throughout NZ and overseas, including Downtown Hilton Gallery, Kitchener Gallery, Moray Gallery (Dunedin) Roslyn Gallery (Dunedin), Otago Art Society, Central Art Galleries (Queenstown), Windsor Gallery (Christchurch), Word of Wearable Arts Complex (Nelson), Upstairs Gallery of Fine Arts (Whitianga) International Art Centre (Auckland) Livingstone Galleries, Hawaii.

Since about 1990, Paul has been exhibiting exclusively through the International Art Centre in Parnell. His work is held in private collections throughout the world, including USA, Canada, France, Hawaii, UK, China, Japan and Australia. Edit or add to this biography
