Biographical Information

Born in England in 1926, Peter Laverty arrived in Australia in 1951. He studied at the Winchester School of Art prior to his arrival in Australia. A teacher and later head of the National Art School, Sydney, he became director of the Art Gallery of NSW in 1971, a position he held until 1977. As an artist he has exhibited widely and is represented in several state and provincial collections. Edit or add to this biography
